Due to the increasing frequency and number of accidents at work due to the occurrence of an electric arc, we inform you of the need to provide employees with sets for protection against an electric arc in accordance with the “Standard for the free issue of special clothing, special footwear and other personal protective equipment to employees of steam power, energy facilities, stations and workshops for the production of generator gas” (Order of the MINISTRY OF ENERGY AND COAL INDUSTRY OF UKRAINE No. 773 dated 23.10.2013).

In general, all Standards for the free issue of special clothing are compiled according to the production feature and are intended for use regardless of the profile and departmental affiliation of the enterprise. In practice, this means that at any enterprise, not one, but several industry standards are applicable and, depending on the production at which the employee is employed, he must be issued special clothing according to that standard. From a practical point of view, this is expressed in the fact that each enterprise has an energy and/or steam power plant and, accordingly, it is necessary to provide employees with the above standards.

The following employees (job titles according to the Classifier of Professions DK 003:2010) must be provided with sets with the appropriate level of protection against electric arc:

In addition, in accordance with Section I, Clause 1.8, Paragraph 2 of the above-mentioned standards, employees engaged in work where exposure to electric arcs is possible are provided with special clothing made of aramid fabrics that is resistant to exposure to electric arcs. You can get more detailed information about the list of personal protective equipment for these professions, protective properties and service life from the document NPAOP 0.00-3.20-13 itself.

We also inform you about the possibility of including information about the procedure for providing the professions listed in these standards with this type of protection in the Collective Agreement, which will allow you to include the costs of acquiring this type of protection in the cost of production.
